Okay, I’ve been obsessing about chandeliers for awhile now - the lighting in our apartment is boring overhead lighting in the dining room and bedroom, and I can’t help it that images of chandeliers gravitate to me. I’m not talking about your grandma’s brass chandelier either, what I want is something simple and modern, maybe even something airy.
I am quoting my good friend Jean’s blog from about a week ago. Her quote of the day was, “…what you keep in your small apartment is a statement about your values.” - and I think I value old world charm. Okay, that’s a slight joke. The original article that the quote is pulled from is all about how to minimize materialism in today’s world. It’s a great source of inspiration, and I recommend reading it just to humble your material cravings for a minute.
PRD and I are sharing a tiny apartment. And it is important to make wise choices. Less space means less choices which means you better make smart ones. And it’s been awhile since we’ve lived here, and I still haven’t done any decorating. Sometimes I feel a weird pressure to have a perfect apartment, like it’s expected of me - but to be honest, that might be because my last apartment was really rockin’. An accent platinum gray wall with a great, enormous yellow floral couch, lavender in metal tins flanking either side of an antique mirrored mantle. Doesn’t it sound like a slice of heaven? I wish I had a picture…
Which brings me back to chandeliers. Maybe that inspiration is the place to start. If you know of a great place for chandeliers, lemme know!

Hi, Kate. Thank you for linking to my blog. You’ll be happy to hear that the apartment I was writing about when I wrote that quote was filled with chandeliers. Well, filled in that there were three spots to put overhead lighting and each had a chandelier. I bought them on ebay and they totally changed the apartment.
Good luck with your own chandelier cravings…
Penelope
