Baby Quilt: Round Two
January 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Forget being a baby quilt…I want this quilt for myself! Perhaps you know about my serious hate relationship with sewing triangles in patchwork. If you don’t, allow me to summarize. It doesn’t matter what technique I use, I find triangles to be extremely tedious and unforgivable. Despite this, I love this quilt SO much that [...]

Cool New Thing + Great Gift: PBW (portable bobbin winder)
December 10th, 2007 · 2 Comments
Suz alerted me to this cool new product (it’s on her Christmas wish list). If your bobbin winder is broken, no longer do you have to worry about taking it in for an expensive repair. Don’t want to worry about re-threading? The portable bobbin winder is the perfect solution.

Holiday Cheer: Quilted Stockings
December 2nd, 2007 · 3 Comments
Finally a weekend of crafting! I gave up everything this weekend to be able to craft. I NEEDED a low key weekend, and that’s what I got. The result of my low key weekend? Two fabulous quilted stockings for PRD and me.
And one up close shot for good measure:
The holidays have officially begun!

And one more thing…I took this picture and forgot to upload it. I’ve posted it just so you can see how the completely adorable newly remodeled guest bedroom looks at Suz’s house. It’s a perfect little quilted bedroom!

Here’s a shot of an idea for an upcoming project:
I love the scrappiness of this pillow, which is named the Gilded Frame Floor Cushion. I would love to see this done as a full quilt. For some reason it does really remind me of stained glass. This great project was taken from Kaffe Fassett’s Caravan [...]

I take my camera everywhere, vowing that I will take pictures to document my adventures and escapades. But I am really bad at actually remembering to get the camera out and take the pictures, is the thing. Such good intentions, but no follow through. Here’s the one picture on my camera from my trip to [...]

Etsy is Quilt-tastic
August 28th, 2007 · No Comments
If you are into handmade items, and you haven’t checked out Etsy, you need to immediately (if not sooner). Abby and I were recently perusing Etsy looking for quilts – we were trying to gauge an appropriate price point – contemplating putting some up there and all. What we found was surprising; quilts are really [...]

A Little About Red Work
August 27th, 2007 · No Comments
Red Work (also appears as redwork) is a simple form of embroidery done with red floss. The stitches are usually a basic running stitch or stem stitch. It was popularized in the late 1800s, and at that time there were only a limited number of flosses that were color safe (meaning they didn’t run or [...]

Sibling Love

Here are a couple of snapshots that I keep on my fridge. I mentioned previously that I was going to be doing a couple of lap quilts for my siblings, and these sweet kids are them. You couldn’t ask for more caring, lovable siblings. Matt is going to be in 6th grade, and will be [...]
