Lil’ Bit Over it.

As a general rule, I do not do negative commentary…probably primarily because of the adage, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

But, can I tell you that I am a teeny, teeny bit over the aqua and red craze? I was really into it for awhile, and now I’m just not feeling it. Sorry friends. Perhaps my love will be renewed: fickle, fickle girl.

It’s taken a long time, sorry folks. I finally took the time to snap some pics of my “new” (now 9 mos. old) place. You know with me it’s always a work in progress, but it’s definitely a nice start. Still have pics left to take of the kitchen, but am waiting for the afternoon and better lighting. Enjoy!

Kinder Kristen Needs an Apron

Kristen – kindergarten teacher extraordinaire – needed an apron for class. After heading to Joann’s one night to pick up some fabric, we got to sewing. Here’s the finished product:

“Fruit Tart” pattern was taken from the book A is for Apron by Nathalie Mornu. The book is insanely cute. Highly, highly recommended.

I’m Back, I swear

Okay, so it’s been 6 weeks since I’ve posted. And my MOST dedicated reader mentioned to me the other day that I need to get cracking on writing again (thanks, Suz!). So here I am. Big changes in the last month have seriously cramped my writing style, but don’t worry, all is good. Without much news on the crafting front, I’ll just write a little update about life in general:

1) I made it through fall wedding season!
2) I started a new job, at www.mercantila.com, which is freakin’ awesome.
3) I got to hang out with my lil’ bro and sis (yes, still working on their quilts)
4) I went to the hospital for the first time ever – everything is fine, don’t worry. It’s the bill that scares me most!
5) After many months, I finally have gotten the decorating itch for our apartment and have started to make some purchases…yesss

So that’s me in a nutshell. I wasn’t kidding when I said busy month/six weeks. I promise I’ll have a crafting update for you all soon, but until then – enjoy the extra hour in your day (I am in love with “falling back”)

I just had to share this with you guys. Usually I watch house redecorating/renovation/flipping shows with a grain of salt. I take the ideas that I like and leave the ones I don’t. For the first time in a long time I was completely struck by a finished product. See for yourself:

16 ft ceilings leave a lot of room for possibility. 2 favorite things – 1) the built-in bookcase with a fireplace and mini-waterfall and 2) the enormous framed photos that go all the way to the ceiling. One of the homeowners is a photographer, so lucky!

Anyway, I thought the end result was spectacular. And PS – the name of the show is Divine Design and you can catch it on HGTV.

I am seriously thinking about bangs. I need a change – people with curly hair, I know you feel my pain. It’s either short or it’s long, and it pretty much always has layers. I set the the whole bangs idea aside because it is so DANG windy in SF sometimes…but I am back to thinking about them. I’d keep the overall length a little longer than this chick though, and it would be a little more rounded, soft, less vertical. Does that sound right?

Anyway, let me know what you think. It’s drastic, but I’ve been told it’s also “hipster.” Am I hipster? Probably not….that’s best left to my brother.
