Made by Suz for Jeff and Lila’s wedding. The quilting design on this quilt is from the Kansas City Star circa the mid-1930’s. Suz managed to get access to TONS of original Kansas City Star patterns. In case the Kansas City Star doesn’t ring any bells for you, from 1928 to 1961 The Kansas City Star published more than 1,000 quilt patterns, establishing a legacy known around the world. Let me tell you: they are so neat (words failing me here). Suz made me a copy of all her originals.
If you’re interested in getting your own copy of Kansas City Star patterns, check out Amazon.

And a picture of the happy couple on their day, for good measure. Love you guys!

I just love this quilt. It’s tied, not quilted so I’m pretty sure I’ll give it a go and do it this summer since I am on make things kick (YES! I love having more free time. Thanks, day job.)

You <3 it, too? Check out the tutorial to make your very own. Thanks Purl Bee!

The first five (5) people to respond to this post will get something made by me.
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. You get what you get.
2. What I create will be just for you…if you have a blog I can mine for ideas, it might be based on what I think you’ll like – or it might be random.
3. It’ll be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. It may be baked goods.
5. I reserve the right to do something strange, if inspired to do so.
6. In return, all you need to do is post this text into a note of your own – or a blog post – and make something for the first 5 people to respond to your note.
7. Send me your mailing address if you don’t live close to me!
IMPORTANT: You DO have to pay it forward.

I just love it! Too many wedding quilts coming up though, and it’ll be awhile before I get to this one…pics here appear in reverse order from sandwiched to pre-sandwiching with a cute little cat named Ingrid involved.
This marks the first completely joint project between me and Suz (a.k.a mom). The best part about it is that we made it completely from mom’s stash — we didn’t have to spend any money!
You can check out more pics of Anjou here.

Wedding quilt (1 of 2) pieced! Now comes the hard part…hand-quilting in time for an early August wedding. Putting that off for a little while, and now on to a cute little Mother’s Day gift…
Happy Sunday! Feels so dang good to just MAKE something sometimes. Very, very happy day.
P.S. – for tutorial on making this quilt, please check out Nettie’s blog, A quilt is nice.

Some cool pics for inspiration:

I am completely obsessed with this dress! Would be perfect for upcoming getway to san diego…
Other zig zag projects I adore:

The designer, Nettie, actually sells the quilt kit for this Mendocino Zig Zag Quilt available on Etsy. Her blog is pretty cool, too! Check it out.

Also adorable is this zig zag mini quilt by Malka Dubrawsky, artist and blogger. My favorite part is the quilting — it really makes the zigs and zags pop!

Kristen – kindergarten teacher extraordinaire – needed an apron for class. After heading to Joann’s one night to pick up some fabric, we got to sewing. Here’s the finished product:

“Fruit Tart” pattern was taken from the book A is for Apron by Nathalie Mornu. The book is insanely cute. Highly, highly recommended.

So. Beth tagged me 2 weeks ago. Since I am at home on Friday night, catching up on my reading, I only just now got the tag. Boy, am I awesome.
Rules:
- Link to the person who tagged me
- Mention the rules
- Reveal six quirky yet boring, mundane, banal and pedestrian facts about yourself
- Tag six other bloggers by linking to them
- Go to each of their blogs and leave a message letting them know they’ve been tagged!
What I can tell you that you don’t already know….
- I really like Lifetime movies.
- I can’t do anything with with my right hand, expect iron and vacuum. Both of which I enjoy doing.
- I wore Chanel Allure for 5 years, and I just switched to Narciso Rodriguez for Her. Big Change.
- I don’t like cooking for myself
- I’m one of the most uncoordinated people you will ever meet.
- I love a good juxtaposition of interests and characteristics. UFC while quilting for one.
Now, I tag:
Well, Beth took everyone, BUT I can tag Abby!
